Prof. Poonam Kumar, Chairperson, Mega Ace Consultancy, India | U.K.

With over three decades of experience, Prof. Poonam Kumar is the founder/present Chairperson of Mega Ace Consultancy having its offices in various metros of India; an international office in London and a worldwide services delivery network. A Harvard Business School Alumnus, Prof. Kumar is an organisational, business and policy consultant, Prof. Poonam Kumar brings with her a unique blend of academic interest and consulting experience. She is a Visiting Professor at the Durham Business School and also a Consultant to the International Finance Corporation (World Bank). A member of various professional bodies from around the world, including the Institute of Management Consultants of India affiliated to International Council of Management Consulting Institute, Prof. Kumar has a diverse developing and developed country experience. She is also a member of various Indian and International trade and industry organizations and associations. As a consultant she brings a versatile knowledge of the emerging economies and has advised various government and private sector clients across the world in areas of trade and investment policy development, business strategy, sectoral policy, organizational development and capability building, communication strategies among others. She has also worked closely with private and public sector agencies in several countries namely India, France, UK, USA, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Nepal, Australia and the Caribbean among others. Under her dynamic leadership Mega Ace has seen strategic operational expansion in Asia (including East Asia and South Asia), Europe, America, Australia and the Caribbean. Mega Ace has seen a strategic transformation in its working model that other firms in the consulting industry are currently contemplating. Prior to her consulting work, Prof. Kumar has been a post-graduate faculty of Bombay University holding Senior Academic and Consultative positions with focus on finance, economics and management. She has also been a visiting faculty in various Management Schools in India and abroad and continues to be invited as a speaker to various institutions of international renown. She travels extensively around the world and has been a part of various trade, industry and business delegations from India. Prof. Poonam Kumar has participated in the World Economic Forums and Partnership Summits and India-EU Summits since their inception.

She has been part of the recent delegations led by the Hon. Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh to the India-UK Investment Summit (London, October 10, 2006) and the India- EU Business Summit (Helsinki, October 12, 2006) and presented papers at these forums. A versatile speaker, she has addressed various international conference and forums on issues related to Trade and Investment Policy Development, Business Strategy, Corporate Governance; Sectoral Policy; Capability Building and Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector  development, Human Resource Development and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) strategy development and Private Public Partnerships among others areas. She has presented the concluding report and recommendations at the Business Action in Asia Conference which was jointly organised by the Commonwealth Business Council and DFID in February 2006. Prof. Poonam Kumar has also addressed the European Parliament in Brussels (May 2006) as an expert on Indian Business on “EU India: Shift in the Centre of Gravity of Trade Policy”. She chaired the session on “Innovation and Technology on Trade and Services” at the India-EU Summit held in New Delhi in November 2008. She has been the chief consultant to various project handled by Mega Ace.

A double post-graduate with degrees in Cost Accountancy and International Economics, Prof. Kumar has also completed various Senior Executive Programmes in Human Resource Management (1994) and Global Strategy Management (1995) from INSEAD.
